Raise your game with enticing vegetarian dishes

The recipes include ideas for all areas of the menu, from hand-held snacks and starters to buffet items and main courses, for example, Tomato, Red Pepper and Coriander Soup, Crispy Vegetable Cakes, Chinese Noodle Wraps and Vegetable Korma Jackets. All recipes are based on products from Premier Foodservice’s leading brands and include Bisto Vegetable Gravy Granules, and Sharwood’s Sweet Chill and Garlic Noodle Sauce, combined with a range of vegetables and proteins such as chick peas, chilli beans and aduki beans.

Phil Cummings, Brand Director, Premier Foodservice, comments: “With some 3-4 million vegetarians in the UK and even more people choosing vegetarian options, publicans really need to raise their game and what better way to showcase their wares than during National Vegetarian Week? This means offering something more than a platter of vegetables or a vegetarian lasagne. Publicans should think about using different proteins, for example, peas and beans or even nuts, and ensure they describe each dish in the best possible way to make sure they sound appetising. And publicans shouldn’t forget to clearly mark vegetarian dishes on the menu in order to make it easy for customers to make their choices without having to ask or feeling awkward.”
